“As a style expert, I’m surrounded all week with color, texture and pattern, so when it came time to designing my own weekend house, I wanted a calm environment. To achieve that, I kept things simple and used a palette of slate grey as the foundation color. Adding white furniture with classic clean lines defined the room. “I chose to paint this Palm Springs casita a deep rich chocolate brown because I thought it fit organically in the desert where the light is amazing and the neutral color of sand is everywhere. I was influenced by my favorite resorts in Bali where saturated shades of brown are coupled with creamy limestone and there is always an interesting splash of contrasting color. The result was a far cry from the white box one usually encouters with new construction. The casita served as the pool house, so I used a fashion forward camouflage sunbrella fabric on the sofa to protect against wet bathing suits and pets.”

“This room needed a complete makeover. It was a raw, industrial, cinder block space. I added function with 20 foot high zebra wood cabinets, warmth with gray menswear wool curtains and luxury with sophisticated fabrics on the seating…and like dressing a client for the red carpet, I finished the room with the perfect accessory, a beautiful hand made Venetian chandelier!”

“Less is always best….whether I’m styling a client or a room I always try to tell the story with the least amount of items and this client wanted me to push that philosophy even further. In his master bathroom I kept the design simple and clean but by using interesting shapes the end result is unique as well as relaxing.”
